How does the Babysofa™ Work?

 The Babysofa™ was designed with functionality in mind.  Use it from birth up to about 12 – 15 months.  Basically, there is two parts to the cushion.  The U-shape and the T-shape.   The U-shape can be used for breast/bottle feeding, as a crawling trainer, sitting support from about 5 months (dependant on the baby’s development) and as a sleep wedge
(See pictures below). When the T-shape is placed back into position, the Babysofa™ can be used as a naptime mattress, at home or away.  When the leg of the T-shape is folded in half and placed upright, the Babysofa™ changes into a sitting support for younger babies.  This position can be used from 3 months, dependant on your baby’s development.  It is important to keep in mind that young babies should not be left in this position for long periods of time.

Form what age can the Babysofa™ be used?

The Babysofa™ can be used from birth as a feeding support or as a naptime mattress.  As your baby grows, the Babysofa™ can be changed into different positions to serve different purposes.

How long will I use the Babysofa™?

The Babysofa™ can be used from birth up to about 12 -15 months.  The Mattress function is very helpful when visiting because the baby will become familiar with it and it will be easier for the baby to fall asleep when you are not at home.

How do I clean the Babysofa™?

The Babysofa™ is made from durable denim. Should you have any spills on your Babysofa™, A quick and easy wipe with a damp cloth will take care of the problem.

How can The Babysofa™ be used for a crawling trainer?

When you want to encourage crawling, the Babysofa™ can be easily used for that purpose.  It is important for your baby to spend time on their tummies but can be difficult because your baby’s arms are still weak.  By using the U-shape and laying your baby on his/her tummy, you can be sure they will not get hurt when their arms get tired.  The Babysofa™ is high enough off the floor for them to practise but will support their weight.  Your baby can practise pushing on their arms and pulling their leg in.  This movement will strengthen those muscles and prepare them to crawl.  By putting toys in front of them and encouraging them to reach for it, they will not get bored easily.

What is the purpose of the strap?

The strap is multipurpose too.  It can be can be used to carry the Babysofa™ or to secure the U-shaped cushion around you waist while feeding.  Breastfeeding cushions typically slides forward while feeding and the baby tends to slide between you and the cushion.  By using the strap in this way, the problem will be alleviated.  It has a quick release buckle on the side which makes it easy to release should your baby fall asleep during feeding.

How heavy is the Babysofa™ and will it hurt my baby’s leg while sitting?

The Babysofa™ weights just over 1 kg as it is filled with Styrofoam.  It is light weight and will not push down on your baby’s legs.

How can a Babysofa™ be sent overseas to a friend or family member?

It can be supplied to you unstuffed and be posted or packed easily into your suitcase. As the Babysofa™ has Velcro sealed openings, you can re-open it on arrival and re-stuff. You can re-stuff with foam-chip or Styrofoam, which is readily available from hobby and material supply stores.

What is the Babysofa™ filled with?

Styrofoam.

Can I order a Babysofa™ with a specific printed insert of my choice?

Yes.  You can supply the fabric or we can supply similar fabric of you choice.  Delivery on custom orders will take 3 weeks from confirmation on fabric or receipt of fabric. Contact Babysofa™ to confirm delivery periods on custom prints.

Can it be used as a changing mat?

Yes as long as you use a waterproof lining at the bottom – just in case.
